Kia ora! I'm Shirley, your host, and I live with my husband in the house attached to View With A Room. We just love this beautiful part of our country, and feel privileged to be able to share its unique beauty with you. It is our goal to give you full privacy and space to enjoy these wonderful surroundings, while being available if you need us. This stay is all about you. We are happy to help with advice, local tips, or just for a friendly chat, and just as happy to stay completely out of your way, to let you relax as you need best.

IN THE AREA

Beach Walks Explore Motukiekie Beach at your doorstep, a destination of choice for nature photographers, or drive 20 minutes north to visit the famous Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki - a must-see for all visitors to NZ.

Hiking NZ's newest Great Walk, the Paparoa Track, is on our doorstep - 20 minutes to the Punakaiki entrance or 33 minutes to the Blackball entrance. We can help with transport for this. Other tracks are near as well.

Scenic Drive Pack a picnic and your camera, look out for penguins and seals, and see why this stretch of road has made it to Lonely Planet's Top 10 Coastal Drives in the world!

Local Culture Enjoy a jam session with locals, find a treasure at a weekend market, fossick for gold, fine dine at a choice of eateries or get fish 'n chips to eat on the beach - try life the West Coast way!

Get Active Immerse yourselves in the unique, unspoiled scenery of the region by kayak, canoe, SUP or e-bike, all available to hire nearby.

We came across a baby seal playing with the seagulls on our walk today. You can see @viewwitharoomnz on the hill as the camera pans to the right. Our paradise.

A brighter end to a very wet day at @viewwitharoomnz

This is a first - watching starfish from the house! We recently got a spotting scope, and at a King low tide, the rocks right in front of @viewwitharoomnz are full of these and other clinging creatures. It’s a little fuzzy, but it’s 100m away from inside, taken through the window.
