Private Coastal Retreat

Welcome the day with the soft light of morning over the Tasman Sea, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows in your exclusive boutique coastal guest suite. Purpose-built in 2022 for privacy, year-round comfort, and uninterrupted views, this is the only suite we host. Located halfway between Punakaiki and Greymouth, it is adjoined to our home yet completely self-contained with its own entrance, private deck, and no shared spaces. An efficient heat pump keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter, so every season is the perfect season to stay.​

Breathtaking Views

Step outside to your deck for sweeping views of the Tasman Sea, Motukiekie Beach’s dramatic sea stacks, and the lush hills beyond. Triple-glazed floor-to-ceiling windows bring the ocean and sky into your room, while insect screens let you enjoy the fresh sea air and the sound of the waves. For year-round comfort, the suite features an efficient heat pump that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. A premium wall-mounted sun umbrella lets you choose between basking in the sun or relaxing in cool shade. You may even spot our resident weka or, if you’re lucky, the world’s smallest and one of the rarest dolphins, the Hector’s dolphin.

Young Native Coastal Forest

In front of the suite, we’ve planted over 1,000 mostly native trees to help regenerate the coastal bush that once grew here. They’re still young now, but a simple path winds through the planting, offering a tranquil spot to walk and picture the forest it will one day become.

Comfort & Amenities

Inside, unwind under a rain-head shower, then wrap yourself in a soft robe and slippers. Sleep deeply in a super king bed with quality linen and your choice of pillows. Your suite has fast Wi-Fi, Netflix, and other streaming options for a peaceful evening in.

Private In-Suite Dining with Ocean Views

Start your day with a complimentary breakfast in your suite, featuring café-style coffee from the Nespresso Vertuo machine, a selection of teas, and fresh eggs, (from our own hens when laying.) The dining area includes a kettle, toaster, microwave, egg boiler, and a quiet mini-fridge for your convenience, and we’ll take care of the dishes so you can relax. In the evening, choose between dining out in nearby Runanga, Greymouth, or Punakaiki, or ordering our optional three-course dinner to enjoy in-suite as the sun sets over the Tasman Sea.

Beach at Your Doorstep

At the end of the property, just across the road, the beach awaits. Explore rock pools teeming with marine life, search for pounamu (greenstone), and photograph the sea stacks that have made this coastline a favourite for photographers. Whether you come for adventure, scenery, or pure relaxation, this is a place to rest, recharge, and make unforgettable memories.
